Upon removing the column from the CJ when I tore it apart for the body swap I broke the ignition switch that the key controls (with the long rod). At the swap meet I picked up a new switch from some guy that had a CJ column there. My column is a tilt and if I remember correctly the donor column was a tilt also. This is the prob: with the used switch I picked up, I have to turn the key backwards to start the engine. It is like the spring in the switch is on the wrong side. There is only one way to mount it though. Are there 2 different switches out there? I have to figure this out...or I have a great theft deterrent device .

Yes, there are two different ignition switchs. And the difference is between wether it's a tilt or not. But you said both were off a tilt colume so it should be correct. I suspect that the one you bought was off a non tilt colume. A non-tilt will be pushed away from the key to the ON and START positions..
