Default 07 Commander whistles above 65 mph

my wife just bought an 07 Commander Limited with 20,000 miles. when the jeep gets above 65 mph there is this horrible whistle that comes from somewhere near the front windshield. i thought it might be the moonroof but it sounds like it's lower. the whistle continues as long as you're over 65 mph and goes away as you slow back down. i can't tell exactly where it's coming from though. it's under warranty and the dealership will look at it on monday. has anyone else experienced this.

I posted this on the Commander forum but thought i'd get some other thoughts.

Do you only hear the whine/whistle when you take your foot off the gas?

If so I hear that whine in my WK too. I'm thinking its normal cuz mine has been doing that since it had 30 miles on it. My aunt's Commander did it too...

Does the Commander have a roof rack? If so, try moving the front cross bar of the rack back one notch, and see if the noise changes or goes away. Also, check the knurled tighteners for the cross bars, and be certain they are reasonably snug.

the commander does not have a roof rack. it's coming from the top of the windshield almost dead center. it has factory remote start and the sound is directly above the remote start receiver. if you push up hard on the smartbeam sensor, the whistle will stop. it's not a faint sound that you can drown out with the radio. it's is loud and annoying.

That's a problem the 06 Commanders had. It was something to do with the windshield seal. I have an 06 and mine does it when the temperature is above 85 degress. It's been doing it less with age tho and doesn't bother me that much. If your 07 is an early one, it might be the same problem. Have the dealer check the seal.

My neighbor had the same issue, and it turned out the windshield had to be reset in place. He also had an issue with his sunroof leaking like a sieve after a pretty heavy thunderstorm here in Houston.

Default front differential

My wife's developed a whine above 60mph last year.
By the time it was all said and done, the front differential ended up getting comletely rebuilt. Under warranty of course. Hopefully this isn't your issue, but that's the luck we had.

No problems since

My 06 had a whine. It was annoying. I took it to the dealer and the resealed the windshield molding. That fixed the problem

if you dont have the racks...

there was a recall on the issue 2 years ago...

the door jamb rubber seals need to be fixed at the top near the windshield corner...

all they do is add more silicone..the factory skimped in that area...
