Default MB on CJ5 Frame

I have a 1945ish Willy's MB and we bent the frame on it last summer. We are restoring it and Im wondering how it would fit on a cj5 frame. What all has to be done to fit the 2 together? The CJ5 frame is much stronger and the Jeep is getting a v8 so this is the way i want to go. Thanks

If you're doing a true restoration you don't change anything from original.

How well it will work depends on what year the CJ5 frame is. There are three to four different versions of CJ5 frames.

Well technically, I guess you could call it a resto-mod. I plan on making a nice trail rig. The body needs work so at least Im not hacking up a mint condition MB. The frame is a 1976 so its not the Kaiser CJ5.

I had a friend that put an MB body on a 72-75 CJ-5 frame. In his case he actually used a 225 Buick motor. In the end body mounts had to be relocated and the motor mounts had to be fabricated. He kept the rear of the tub where it should have been so the front tires were pushed forward some compared to how they were on the original frame and he had a ton of room for his winch in front of that grill since the frame rails between the bumper and grill were now 3 inches longer.

That is exactly 100% my plans for the Jeep.

You might want to utilize the rear tank instead of mounting one under the seat again while you're at it.

I was definitely thinking about putting a fuel cell in the back. But then no room for back seats. Oh well

What I was suggesting was using the factory '76 fuel tank location under the bed of the tub, not a fuel cell in the interior.
